Using Chatbots for Deception

Not long ago, the worldwide web was primarily used for disseminating information quickly. However, so-called “AI” has changed that by changing the underlying math. I have seen a Mark Twain quote that is something like, “A lie travels halfway around the world while the truth is still putting its pants on” (or something). That is very salient now, as the ability to produce something that _looks_ true is trivial. The cost of producing information is so low that its content can seem negligible. I would contend this is also why the stock market operates more like a casino than a market (for now): if prices simply seem like aspects of just another meme, it simply makes no sense for accurate measurement.

The so-called “AI” chatbot companies are encouraging this by insinuating that they have distilled “the truth” down to its essence. In the Linux scene, there is an expression that goes, “with enough eyeballs, all bugs become superficial.” Of course this isn’t true in like the absolute sense. However, it is simply a rationale for structuring the project and incentives like they are. It works in that frame. Perceiving it as some sort of universal truth will definitely lead to situations where it is incorrect. However, chat bots are predicated on rules. They are simply not designed for sayings that are useful as concepts yet incorrect when applied literally.

Another thing that I see as very dishonest by the big chat bot companies is that the imply their technology, and AI facilitates stuff like drug development and disease research, therefore the chat bots are extremely important for things like biological research. Indeed, one of the big “AI” chat bots is a top search result for attempting to determine which programs are used for stuff like biological research and drug development. Hmmmmmm, it’s almost as if some companies are seeking to deceive people on purpose.🤨
